Mattia Sguazzini is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Genoa and a 2026–2027 Virtual Routes European Cybersecurity Fellow. He is also an Adjunct Lecturer at Sciences Po’s Menton campus and at the University of Pavia. He was previously a Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS) at the Brussels School of Governance, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). He holds a PhD in Security and Strategic Studies from the interdisciplinary doctoral programme in Security, Risk and Vulnerability at the University of Genoa, where his dissertation examined the cybersecurity policy design space of EU member states. His research sits at the intersection of cybersecurity governance, digital sovereignty, and the political economy of security in Europe. He also has a strong methodological interest in text-as-data approaches in the social sciences, particularly in the use and fine-tuning of large language models for policy analysis.
