Linde Desmaele is an Assistant Professor of Intelligence and Security at Leiden University.
Her work sits at the intersection of international relations and security studies, with a focus on nuclear politics, US alliances and European security. Previously, Linde was a Stanton Nuclear Security Fellow in the MIT Security Studies Program and a Belgian American Educational Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at Columbia University. She holds a PhD from the Free University of Brussels, for which she received the 2022 Global Strategy PhD Prize, jointly awarded by the European Security and Defence College (European External Action Service) and the Egmont Royal Institute for International Relations. She also holds an MA from Seoul National University’s Graduate School of International Studies and another MA from KU Leuven.
