DPhil candidate · University of Oxford · United Kingdom

Archishman is a DPhil International Relations candidate at the University of Oxford. His research interests lie in the field of security and strategic studies, with a particular focus on emerging technologies and intelligence in international politics. He also specialises in Indian foreign policy and national security posture in a changing world order. Archishman's doctoral research at Oxford examines intelligence diplomacy and its use as a device of modern statecraft. In particular, he investigates how normative conventions and the pursuit of material outcomes animates the pursuit of clandestine diplomacy and intelligence liaison, shaping how and why they are used by states as a policy option. At present, Archishman is a Non-Resident Associate Fellow at the Observer Research Foundation, India's premier think tank focused on geopolitics and geoeconomics. Prior to his time in Oxford, he studied at King’s College London, being awarded First-Class (Hons) for both his BA in International Relations and MA in National Security Studies. He conducted research on Israel’s role in the Second Libyan Civil War (2014-2019), and ISIS’ practice of counterintelligence for his undergraduate and Master's theses respectively.
